14-16 PROVISION Arsenal Sport & Leisure Project Provision Details: Run in partnership with Arsenal Football Club and Cambridge Education in Islington, the Arsenal Sport and Learning project offers a specialist sports focused programme of alternative provision to young people who become disengaged from mainstream education in years 10 and 11. The project specifically targets young people who have a demonstrable interest in sport particularly football. As part of their programme, participants undertake practical coaching and sporting activities with the Arsenal Community Programme and work towards the achievement of a recognised coaching award. They also access a core curriculum of learning provision in English, Mathematics and ICT. Participants have the opportunity to achieve a number of qualifications and awards including:
Participants receive information advice and guidance in relation to their post-16 options and are supported in progressing to further education, training and employment. Joining the Arsenal Sport and Learning Project: Referrals to the project must be made by the schools or local authorities that are responsible for the pupils concerned. In making a referral schools and local education authorities must formally agree to meet the costs of the pupil’s participation on the project.
