NVQ ACTIVE LEISURE & LEARNING – ACTIVITY LEADERSHIP

Course details: This course is run in partnership with Arsenal Football Club and is targeted towards young people who wish to in coaching and activity leadership. Learners undertake, and are required to complete an Apprenticeship framework comprising the following awards:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership
  • Level 2 Certificate in Sport and Recreation, Industry and Organisational Awareness
  • Football Association Level 2 award in Football Coaching
  • Four Day First Aid course
  • Functional Skills/Key Skills Award in English, Mathematics and ICT

Learners attend the Springboard training centre for a day or two per week for underpinning knowledge lessons, portfolio building support an Functional Skills/Key Skills support sessions. They undertake work experience on the Arsenal Football Club Community Programme where they participate in the delivery of coaching sessions to young people in local community settings.

Entry Requirements: Applicant must have an interest/knowledge in coaching and activity leadership and competent at level 1 in this area. They must also be capable of achieving the Functional Skills/Key Skills award I English, Mathematics and ICT at the specified level.

Course duration: Learners have up to 1 Year to complete the apprenticeship framework

Eligibility: Young people within the ages of 16 – 18 and 19-24 who meet entry requirement and residency criteria

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA): Learners aged 16-18 may be entitled to an EMA allowance of £10, £20 or £30 a week. They will be provided with support in making an EMA application.
Recruitment process: Monthly intake subject to availability. Information sessions are held every Monday and Wednesday afternoon at the Springboard Islington Seven Sisters Road centre. Young people who wish to join the programme complete and application form and undertake and initial assessment. They are then contacted when a place becomes available.
