NVQ CONSTRUCTION – PAINTING AND DECORATING Course details This course is targeted towards young people who wish to pursue a career as Painters and Decorators in the construction sector. Learners undertake, and are required to successfully complete, an Apprenticeship framework comprising the following awards:
Learners usually begin their training in the Springboard Islington workshop and training centre where they undertake the Diploma level 2 in Painting and Decorating and gain the practical skills needed for the work setting. They are then placed with an employer to complete their NVQ level 2. Course location: 97-101 Seven Sisters Road, London N7 7QP Additional support available: Dyslexia Support (on Site) Guidance & Jobsearch Work placements Average length of programme: Learners have up to 1 Year to complete the apprenticeship framework Eligibility: Young people within the ages of 16 – 18 and 19-24 who meet entry requirement and residency criteria Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA): Learners aged 16-18 may be entitled to an EMA allowance of £10, £20 or £30 a week. They will be provided with support in making an EMA application. Travel Allowance: Where necessary, support with travel costs is provided to learners who do not have an entitlement to free bus travel. Recruitment process: Monthly intake subject to availability. Information sessions are held every Monday and Wednesday afternoon at the Springboard Islington Seven Sisters Road centre. Young people who wish to join the programme complete and application form and undertake and initial assessment. They are then contacted when a place becomes available.
